Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in a one room log cabin near Hodgen's Mill, now Hodgenville, KY. His birth at Sinking Spring farm and a childhood spend at Knob Creek Farm, KY, shaped and guided the 16th President of the United States. These formative years spent in rural Kentucky had a major influence on Lincoln's later policies and politics. A log cabin, representing the one in which Lincoln was born, is preserved in a memorial building at the site of his birth.
