Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in a one-room log cabin near Hodgen's Mill, now Hodgenville, Kentucky. His birth at Sinking Spring Farm and a childhood spend at Knob Creek Farm shaped and guided the 16th president of the United States. These formative years spent in rural Kentucky had a major influence on Lincoln's later policies and politics. A log cabin, representing the one in which Lincoln was born, is preserved in a memorial building at the site of his birth.
