The Moton School Story: Children of Courage

Item#: 266396

The eyes of the world are on us. The intelligent support we give our cause will serve as a stimulant for the cause of free people everywhere. -Reverend L. Francis Griffin.

Before the sit-ins in Greensboro, before the Montgomery bus boycott, there was the student strike at the Robert Russa Moton High School in Farmville, Virginia. In 1951, Barbara Johns led her fellow students in protest against the inadequate and overcrowded facilities they faced. Their strike changed the course of American history. The Moton Museum tells their story.
