Fort Pulaski was built to protect the port of Savannah from foreign invaders in 1847. Ironically, the only fighting it witnessed was the American Civil War. Despite a 30 hour Union artillery bombardment that made coastal fortresses obsolete in 1862, Fort Pulaski is still one of the nation's best preserved coastal forts.

Six Union artillerymen are depicted on the Fort Pulaski National Monument Embroidered Patch. It was artillery teams like this, using rifled cannons, which ended the era of the coastal fort!

Sew this embroidered patch onto your jacket or put it in your collection for display. However you choose to display your embroidered patch, it makes a great keepsake to remember your visit!
