During the Atlanta Campaign, the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain was part of a Union plan to bring an end to the Confederate Army of Tennessee in Georgia. As with other battles of the time, not having the high ground proved very costly; on this day it was the Union who paid the higher price in blood, suffering about three times as many losses as the Confederates. Though the Federals were repulsed and defeated, they were not hindered in their march toward Atlanta.
Attractively designed in red, white and blue, this embroidered patch bears the name of the national battlefield below an illustration of Civil War soldiers.
