In May of 1864, Grant began his Overland Campaign, saying to President Lincoln, Whatever happens, there will be no turning back. He meant that his army would not be returning to D.C. like McClellan had done in earlier years. Though the Wilderness was an inconclusive battle, the Army of the Potomac marched on towards Spotsylvania.
Wounded Confederate soldiers, recognizable by their grey uniforms, marched through the blackness of the wilderness on this circular magnet. The name of the battle and the dates, written in reflective golden letter, surround the center image.
