Like other national parks in Alaska, Lake Clark National Park and Preserve is a vast, largely untamed wilderness just waiting to be explored. Accessible only by boat or plane, the park's wild environment means it is teeming with wildlife. Be sure to take some binoculars with you, because hiking or backpacking here may very well get you within sight of brown bears, American black bears, and more.
Then visit the legacy of a true American outdoorsman, Richard Proenneke, who lived in this wilderness for some 30 years. A national historic site, his remote, handmade cabin is a must-see for anyone interested in wilderness living.
A great momento from our trip, 6th Nov 2019

We purchased a map of the National Parks and framed it with a foam backing behind it. We are now buying the pins from each park we visit and putting them on the map. We didn't realize that pins were available for Lake Clark. We were very excited to find them available online, since we missed seeing them while at the park. The pin looks great on our map.
