Cumberland Gap National Historic Park Hiking Stick Medallion

Item#: 378638

Long before Daniel Boone blazed his trail—Boone Trace—through the Cumberland Gap, buffalo had trodden through the deep forests of the pass, creating ancient traces of their own as they journeyed to western lands. These paths became the basis for a system of footpaths created by Native Americans, and Boone himself followed a buffalo trace when he created his trail that runs through Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia.

Featuring a buffalo under the words Ancient Buffalo Trace, this hiking stick medallion reminds us of those original trailblazers that laid the foundation for the human pathfinders who followed them.
