US Route 66—also known as The Main Street of America, The Mother Road, and The Will Rogers Highway—originally ran from Chicago, Illinois through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, ending in Los Angeles, California. Many American families would travel the route on vacation, stopping at landmarks along the way such as Lincoln Home and Petrified Forest National Park.
