During the Vietnam conflict, the National League of Families of American Prisoners and Missing in Southeast Asia recognized the need for a symbol. In 1972, the POW/MIA flag was designed by Newt Heisley and quickly gained widespread acceptance. To date, the POW/MIA flag is the only flag, besides the American flag, to have flown at the White House.
The POW/MIA patch features the silhouette of an American POW with barbed wire and a guard tower representing his imprisonment. Written below that silhouette is the promise to all remaining American prisoners of war, You are not forgotten.
Show your respect for the brave American servicemen who never came home with this Collector's Edition POW/MIA patch.
