During colonial times, militias were formed out of civilian colonialists to respond quickly to war threats. Their ability to respond to threats and danger at a minute's notice earned them the name minutemen.
Indeed, the ideal of these early American citizen-soldiers lives on today in our National Guard. The minuteman, with his musket and plow, is still the symbol of our reserve military force.
If you know a National Guardsmen helping to protect their home state, celebrate their service with this lapel pin. Or get this stunning, fine pewter lapel pin for yourself to celebrate the sacrifice of all those continue to answer liberty's call.
