The Tricorn (or Tricorne) hat, called a "cocked" hat during the height of its popularity, was a common style of hat worn by men of all classes in the 18th century. The hat's folded-up style allowed the wearer to show off his wig—a sign of prominence and social status in the day—as well as easily remove the hat when entering a building.
This fine pewter lapel pin commemorates the 18th century's most popular headgear. Wear it on your suit jacket or place it in your collection.
