The Battle of King's Mountain was a much needed morale boost for the new, yet-to-be independent, American nation. In South Carolina in 1780, Patriot militiamen confront the newly arrived British Major Patrick Fergueson and his Loyalist Militias. The battle was a resounding Patriot victory that closed off any British chance of an invasion of North Carolina.
The center image of this hiking stick medallion shows a militiaman holding his musket, while the sun rises above the wave-like Joes, Kings, and Brown's mountains which are contained within the grounds of Kings Mountain National Military Park.
Bearing a quote from Thomas Jefferson above the center image, and the name of the military park, and the date of the battle below, this medallion is perfect for letting other hikers know where you've been!
