During the Civil War, Andersonville Prison, also know as Camp Sumter, was a place of horrors inflicted on Americans by Americans. By the end of the war, almost 45,000 Union soldiers had been housed there—with around 15,000 dying within the prison's stockade walls.
Today Andersonville National Historic Site commemorates the sacrifices and endurance of those Union soldiers. Andersonville NHS also serves to honor all American POWs with the inclusion of the National Prisoner of War Museum on-site.
Remember our tumultuous past and our bright future with a commemorative patch. Your purchase goes to support the National Park Service!
