*Defiance* was the watchword for American colonists in October 1780, and it paid off well. Instead of obeying a British officer's command to lay down their arms, they decided to attack and defeated loyalists at Kings Mountain. Their success paved the way for the final victory over Lord Cornwallis that ended the American Revolution the following year.
Located in South Carolina, Kings Mountain National Military Park preserves the site of this important battle of the American Revolution. This hiking stick medallion commemorates the park and particularly the colonists through its depiction of the American long rifle used by the patriots.
