Across a thousand acres, explore slavery’s impact on Spanish ruled Colonial Florida with our hiking medallion. Displayed is the Kingsley Home where slave owner and merchant Zephaniah Kingsley lived with his multiracial family, a tabby cabin used by his slaves, and white sea cotton that provided the bulk of his riches. The Kingsley family relocated to Haiti when Florida came under U.S. ownership, for fear of the inhumane treatment Americans inflicted upon slaves.
