Located on the same grounds as Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington House is connected to many important figures, issues, and events in United States history. Built between 1802 and 1814, it served as the first memorial to George Washington before passing down to the Lee family, and eventually standing as a memorial to him and his role in promoting peace and reunion after the Civil War.
