Fort Washington Park

Fort Washington Park in Maryland was designated to preserve a Potomac River stronghold, built in 1809, which was the first and only line of defense protecting Washington, DC until the Civil War. Today's visitors enjoy walks along the riverside, recreational activities including picnicking and birdwatching, and artillery demonstrations.
