Covering 3.3 million acres of rugged mountains, dynamic glaciers, temperate rainforest, wild coastlines, and deep sheltered fjords, Glacier Bay National Park is a highlight of Alaska's Inside Passage. Encircling the park to the west is the Fairweather Range, the highest coastal mountains in the world at 15,000 feet. Marine waters make up nearly one-fifth of the park. Marine life includes the endangered humpback whale, orcas, Stellar sea lion, harbor seals, sea otters and porpoises. Glacier Bay is home to a large brown and black bear population, as well as the blue glacier bear. Moose, wolves, Sitka blacktail deer, mountain goats and bald eagle also thrive in the park.
