Our Steamtown National Historic Site keychain features the Union Pacific 4012 Big Boy.  The locomotive was designed to haul troops and freight over the Rocky Mountains between Cheyenne, Wyoming and Ogden, Utah.  Capable of speed over 80 mph, it could haul a five mile long fully loaded train.  It was retired in February 1962 after 1,029,507 miles.   Donated and moved to Steamtown Foundation, Bellows Falls, Vermont in 1965 and then relocated to Scranton, PA in the winter of 1984-1985, the Union Pacific 4012 ''Big Boy'' along with the entire collection became the official property of the National Park Service in the spring of 1989.
