Vicksburg National Military Park, located in Mississippi and stretching across the Yazoo River into Louisiana, commemorates one of the most significant campaigns in the Civil War. Visitors will discover monuments, memorials, and living history demonstrations as they explore what Lincoln called “the key” to the Confederacy. The park’s USS Cairo Gunboat and Museum preserves a Confederate Ironclad that was sunk in 1862 and raised in 1964.
