Cobalt Glass Pepper Bottle
This Piece is a Historical Reproduction
Of the many pepper bottles recovered from the excavation of the U.S.S Cairo, an ironclad gunboat that sank in the Yazoo River during the Civil War, one was found to contain edible pepper sauce! A historical replica, our Cobalt Glass Pepper Bottle are great for storing your spices – but they also hold so much more.
At Jamestown Glasshouse, glassblowers continue the tradition of Colonial glassmaking established just a few yards away from where early American settlers began making glassware in 1608. Individually hand blown with cobalt, every bottle is its own time machine making pit stops in Colonial Virginia, the American Civil War, and stopping at present day America where artisans use metals to produce colored glass.
