Reinforce your encounters at Fort Barrancas with the namesake hiking medallion. The Confederate Army occupied Fort Barrancas in March of 1861, which created a tense stalemate in the Pensacola Bay, as Federal forces occupied neighboring Fort Pickens. In November of 1861, Fort Barrancas suffered heavy damages in a massive bombardment with Federal Marines and was ultimately abandoned in May of 1862. The hiking medallion depicts the canon peering out over the fortified walls, living up to the site's nickname, the Bastion on the Bluffs. Attach this piece of history to your hiking stick—after the long hike around the fort, you deserve it!
