Fort Macon Patch
Finely woven is 19th century Fort Macon situated behind one of a Civil War era siege gun. In the Spring of 1862, Union soldiers with the 30 Pounder Parrot Rifle seen, swept through the region and bombarded the stronghold for eleven hours. Confederate forces surrendered the severely damaged fortification to the Union who maintained possession for the war’s duration.
