Established in 1948, Independence National Historical Park spans more than 52 acres within the city of Philadelphia and was created to preserve and interpret the historic places and artifacts associated with the birth of the American republic. Many of the park’s monuments and buildings stand as icons of freedom and democratic ideals for people around the world.
