Planned by General Ulysses S. Grant, the Atlanta Campaign was meant to be the death knell for the Confederate army. He ordered Major General William T. Sherman to advance into Georgia as far as he could and damage their resources as much as possible. Grant meant business: He wanted to cut the throat of the Confederate Army of Tennessee. Unfortunately, things did not turn out that way on June 27, 1864, at the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain, when the Federals managed to drive the Confederates away from the mountain but suffered terrible losses.

This embroidered patch commemorates all the soldiers who fought in this battle by bearing both Confederate and American flags. Buying this item not only secures a souvenir of the park but also helps support its mission to educate the public about this important battle.
