Though it started as a national monument in 1933, Saguaro National Park was granted park status in 1994. The park is split into two districts. One, Tuscon Mountain District is home to cacti forests and wildlife like desert tortoises and coyotes. The other, Rincon Mountain District, has a higher elevation and is home to wildlife like black bears and Mountain king snakes.
